More than 400,000 Russian shells defused in Ukraine

March 20 ----- Volodymyr Zelenskyy says more than 400,000 Russian shells have been defused in Ukraine during the course of the war.

In a video posted to Twitter, the Ukrainian president paid tribute to those clearing mines and unexploded shells left by Russia's military. He said Ukrainian pyrotechnics and explosives specialists have already inspected more than 100,000 hectares of territory since the start of the Russian invasion.

"Over 400,000 enemy shells have been neutralized," he said, adding that "more than 200,000 explosive items have already been removed". Mr. Zelenskyy thanked "everyone involved" in the effort, naming a number of individuals who have worked to neutralize Russian ordnance.

He also said this week has "brought a truly significant international legal result for Ukraine" with the warrant for the arrest of Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court. The warrant is a "turning point, the moment after which it becomes undeniable that the end of this aggression for Russia will be the full extent of its responsibility".
