More than 4,800 COVID-19 recoveries reported

June 11 ------ The number of patients who have recovered from the coronavirus disease in the country is now more than 4,800 after the Department of Health reported 159 new recoveries on Wednesday. The total number of patients who have beaten the virus has now climbed to 4,895, said Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in a press briefing. Vergeire, meanwhile, reported that ten more fatalities were added to the country’s death toll which is now at 1,027.

There are now 23,732 confirmed cases in the country as the DOH confirmed 740 new cases nationwide. The DOH recent situational report showed that there are 16,826 active cases as of June 8, “with the majority of the patients exhibiting mild symptoms.” A total of 55 laboratories across the country can now perform COVID-19 testing. The DOH said that the total test conducted is at 451,625 with 416,201 unique individuals tested as of June 8.

The country, meanwhile, ranked third with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among the member states of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations. Singapore has the highest number followed by Indonesia. The DOH reminded the public to follow the minimum health standards and strengthen their immune system. “Minimum health standards are essential to keep everyone healthy and safe. Though handwashing used to be taken for granted, doing it frequently and properly should now be a part of our daily lives,” the DOH said. “To bolster our immunity to disease, the public is encouraged to maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and refrain from vices,” it added.
