MANILA, Philippines, June 17 ------ Motorists traversing major highways in Metro Manila can now check online if they have committed traffic violations under the no-contact apprehension policy or NCAP. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday launched the “May Huli Ka” website for NCAP violators.
MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said the website mayhulika.mmda.gov.ph can be accessed through cell phones, tablets and computers. Once on the website, Artes said motorists need to type their license plate or conduction sticker number as well as the motor vehicle file number. “The inclusion of the MV file number is an added security and protection, so that only the vehicle owners can check their traffic violations under NCAP,” Artes told reporters.
In the old May Huli Ka portal, only the license plate number was required to check for a traffic violation. “More features will be rolled out upon the app’s release within one or two months,” Artes said.
The enhancements include real-time notification through text messaging and email, access to photos and videos that recorded the supposed traffic violation, and a mechanism wherein companies can register under a single account and monitor traffic offenses of their fleet of vehicles.
App users will also be allowed to contest their violations directly on the app, according to Artes. He assured the public that the new May Huli Ka app is secure from hacking, with a firewall installed on the app. The MMDA currently notifies motorists about their traffic infractions through delivery of notices of violations. The agency is also in talks with the Philippine National Police to allow PNP personnel to access its command center to be able to respond to crimes recorded on MMDA’s cameras.
