MANILA, March 5 ------ Mikey Williams is making his return to the PBA after nearly three years away from the league. The Converge FiberXers confirmed on their official social media pages that the two-time PBA champion is joining the team.

The announcement comes one week ahead of the PBA 50 Commissioner's Cup, which tips off on March 11. "The wait is over! Mikey Williams is now a FiberXer. Welcome to #PurpleNation!" the post on Facebook read. The 34-year-old likewise posted on his Instagram story a photo of a tarpaulin of the team, showing him wearing a Converge jersey. "It's all god. And just like that it begins," Williams wrote on his Instagram story.

The two-time PBA champion is an additional weapon for a young Converge squad that also features Juan Gomez de Liaño, Alec Stockton, Justin Arana and Justine Baltazar. The FiberXers also reinforced their squad with a trade for veteran Calvin Abueva from the Titan Ultra Giant Risers and young gun Jonnel Policarpio from the NLEX Road Warriors.

Williams last played for then-TNT Tropang Giga in the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup, before departing due to a contract dispute. During his time with TNT, Williams won two PBA championships, earned two Most Valuable Player awards, Rookie of the Year and scoring champion, among others. Since then, the two-time PBA champion only suited up for Strong Group Athletics in the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship in 2025.

Converge will begin its PBA 50 Commissioner's Cup campaign against the Macau Black Bears in the mid-season conference's opening game on March 11 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
