July 29 ------ “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB): Celebrity Collab” edition big winner Mika Salamanca showed her care for pet animals by donating to an animal shelter in Capas, Tarlac following the back-to-back storms that recently hit the Philippines. Salamanca’s generosity was shared by Sparkle GMA Artist Center on Instagram, revealing that the former “PBB” housemate made a donation to the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF)’s “Barkyanihan Project.”
“Big winner with a big heart. Mika Salamanca supports the Animal Kingdom Foundation with a generous donation,” the talent agency captioned the post.
AKF’s “Barkyanihan Project” is an initiative to provide urgent veterinary care and aid for animals affected by calamities such as flooding. Salamanca’s donation came after Metro Manila was submerged in floodwaters caused by tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, Emong, and the southwest monsoon, or “habagat.”
Prior to the donation, Salamanca and fellow “PBB” housemate Will Ashley also volunteered in the relief efforts of the non-governmental organization Angat Buhay to assist those affected by the successive storms.
Salamanca first made headlines after she donated her ₱1 million prize money to “Duyan ni Maria” in Mabalacat, Pampanga, an orphanage that provides housing, food, clothing, health care, and education for abandoned and neglected children. Salamanca, who is set to release her album under Star Magic, also became the latest internet obsession after her resurfaced song covers from when she was young went viral on social media.
