February 11 ------ Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh is set to be honored with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. According to a press release published on walkoffame.com, the Malaysian star will receive recognition in the Motion Pictures category. Filmmakers Jon M. Chu and Ang Lee will join the ceremony as emcees, alongside journalist Jenelle Riley. "The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome actress Michelle Yeoh to the Hollywood Walk of Fame," Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez remarked. She added: "Michelle's extraordinary talent, grace, and groundbreaking career have left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Her star honors a trailblazer whose work continues to inspire audiences worldwide."
In March 2023, Michelle made history as the first Asian woman to win Best Actress at the Oscars for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. "For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities. This is proof that.... dream big and dreams do come true," the Malaysian actress said in her Oscars acceptance speech. "And ladies, don't let anybody tell you are ever past your prime. Never give up."
Michelle recently starred in the Wicked movie franchise as Madame Morrible. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar UK in December 2024, the actress shared what she aspires to do next in her acting career after starring in Wicked. "I want to be able to dance in a musical. Dancing has always been my first love so now I've sang [in Wicked]. Jon M. Chu (Wicked director), dancing next," she said.
Before pursuing acting, Michelle trained as a ballet dancer. When asked by the magazine about the most rewarding aspect of her work as an actress, Michelle pointed to the opportunity to collaborate. "You have to find your people and you have to work together because whether it's a movie, whether it's a TV series, it's never about one actor, one person. It's about collaboration," she highlighted.
