McGregor already 'harassing' everybody to get a third fight with Poirier

January 27 ------ Former UFC two-division world champion Conor McGregor is raring to face ex-UFC lightweight interim champ Dustin Poirier in a grudge match. McGregor and Poirier first met inside the cage in 2014 where the former emerged victorious by way of first-round technical knockout. A rematch took place this past weekend at UFC 257 and this time it was Poirier who got the better of McGregor as he defied the odds and won via second-round technical knockout.

In an interview with ESPN, McGregor’s head trainer John Kavanagh revealed that his fighter is already making moves as early as now to get a trilogy with Poirier. “He's already harassing everybody to get the rematch,” said Kavanagh. “We would love to rematch. I don't think Dustin is against that. If we could get the rematch before the summer that would be amazing,” he said.

Kavanagh firmly believes that McGregor should focus solely on his MMA career as the Irish is hoping to land a fight with Manny Pacquiao. If McGregor vs. Poirier 3 does not take place, Kavanagh is worried that he may lose his ward to the sport of boxing. “If it is not to be, well then I guess I don't really know. Maybe he drifts off into boxing,” he uttered. “If the MMA community could help me out here and get behind me and pester the UFC to give him another fight sooner rather than later so I don't lose him for six months to boxing I would appreciate that,” Kavanagh added.
