October 24 ------ Another Filipino rising star will take centerstage in ONE Championship’s ultimate proving ground. Marwin Quirante steps up to the plate to face Phan Thanh Tung from Vietnam in a three-round strawweight MMA bout at ONE Friday Fights 84 on October 25 inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
At 21 years old, Quirante will be the youngest Filipino to compete under the ONE banner, and he’s coming in as one of the best young stars from the local MMA circuit. Quirante holds a 4-1 record, with two knockouts and a submission to his name. He’s had a busy year so far, winning both of his matches while showcasing his well-roundedness in both those fights, proving that he’s ready to take the next step in his fledgling mixed martial arts career.
Another win, this time in the international circuit, would certainly wrap up a tremendous year for the young fighter from Marawi. It won’t be easy against Phan, though.
The Vietnamese fighter comes in with an unbeaten 4-0 record, with most of his wins coming from submissions, making this an interesting clash of styles. Quirante is another addition to the Filipino hopefuls in ONE Friday Fights. His fight comes a week after national team veteran Mariane Mariano lost in her ONE debut against Norika Ryu on October 18 at ONE Friday Fights 83. Waiting for these Filipino athletes could be a US$100,000 contract to ONE Championship.
