October 8 ------ Mariz Ricketts and Ronnie Ricketts tend to focus on consistently improving rather than celebrating any success. Ronnie, an action star and a martial artist, said it best: “Sabi ko nga, hindi overnight ang training. Kasi akala nung iba, in one day or two days, magaling ka na. It takes time. I started martial arts noong 5 years old ako. It is never ending. You train everyday. You learn everyday.” Just like in martial arts, building a brand takes time. Before officially launching their new venture, the showbiz couple had to first experience the healing benefits of physical therapy.

On Friday, October 4, Mariz and Ronnie, together with Dr. Eugene Ketselman, Roly Dimol, Dr. Andrei Altavas, and Vladimir Camurungan, launched their health and wellness brand, Ptxperts. The new company, which advocates for pain-free living, specializes in orthopedic, spine, and sports physical therapy. “Everyday ako nag-g-gym. I have a gym sa taas ng bahay. Gumigising ako ng 4:30 in the morning. Magwo-workout ako ng 5 a.m,” Ricketts told ABS-CBN News about the importance of physical health. Promoting healthy living, he added, “Remember: healthy living. Wala kang bisyo. ‘Yung pagkain, that’s the key also. Let’s say na puro ka pa-pogi pero kapag hindi ka healthy living, makikita sa itsura mo.”

His wife, Mariz, an actress, also discussed her commitment to staying active and healthy. “Very important. Katulad nung sinabi ko kanina na kapag healthy ka, happy ka. Itong physical therapy, regular naming ginagawa ‘yan. We really believe in that. ‘Yung brother ko has been taking care of us. Kapag may pain kami and all, ginagamot niya kami,” she shared with ABS-CBN News. “Dapat talaga inaalagaan natin ‘yung sarili natin. Kung marami tayong oras sa maraming bagay, dapat may oras din tayo sa workout,” she added. Their favorite routine is walking, which helps them connect and plan things out. “We walk a lot. When we do walking, that’s the time we connect eh. Naglalakad kami. Nagkukwentuhan kami. Nakakapagplano kami,” the action star said.

The two have been married for 30 years. During the interview at Victoria Sports Tower, the showbiz couple spilled their secrets to long-lasting marriage. “Kami kasi, mababaw ‘yung kaligayahan namin. We’re home buddies. We’re partners. I can’t leave the house kapag wala siya. Kapag magte-taping, gusto ko rin kasama niya. I don’t have to tell her where I am. Walang duda ba,” Ricketts opened up. He added: “Kapag nag-aaway, hindi namin pinapatagal. Ang away namin, mabilis lang. I don’t wanna sleep at night na galit sa akin ang wife ko. Mababaw lang naman ‘yung mga pinag-aawayan namin.” “Kapag nag-aaway kami, ang ginagawa ko, nagsusulat ako ng letter. Nilalagay ko sa ilalim ng pinto, saying sorry.”

Mariz, on the other hand, had a very interesting revelation, which she thinks is their ultimate secret. “Actually, sa lahat ng houses na tinirahan namin, separate bathrooms talaga para may sarili kaming mundo na away from each other. Dun ako nagsusulat ng letter, dun ako nagbabalot ng whatever na surprise,” she revealed. “Hindi naman all the time you’re okay. So, kapag gusto ko makapag-isip, ‘yun ang place ko (her separate bathroom). Kapag labas ko, okay na ako,” she added. What’s their plan for their anniversary in December? They responded: “It’s a busy month eh. Pero gagawa pa rin kami ng paraan. Hindi puwedeng hindi. We still celebrate it. Very simple lang.” Is there anything that they want to still achieve? Gusto namin mag-travel. ‘Yun ang dream namin to go somewhere. Bihira kami magbyahe. Last year, we went to Paris. Binisita namin ang anak namin.” The two entrepreneurs also talked about their upcoming showbiz projects. “Ang movie niya (Ronnie), nasa planning stage pa lang pero tapos na ang script. ‘Yung gagawin niya, baka kami rin ang mag-produce. Of course, action movie,” Mariz ended.
