January 4 ------ Maris Racal took to social media to express her gratitude on launching four roles this year. On her Instagram page, the Kapamilya star wrote: "We launched 4 roles this year. What a year. Always grateful, universe!"
Among the roles Maris portrayed were Sunshine in the film Sunshine, Gab in the series Incognito, Jessa/Penelope in the Netflix movie Sosyal Climbers, and Ponggay in the series FPJ's Batang Quiapo. Back in February, Sunshine won the Crystal Bear for Best Film at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival. The award-winning film premiered in Philippine cinemas in July.
Maris shared that she trained for a year for her role in the film. "I really pushed my limits and trained for it. Even though it was hard, I pushed," she shared in a 2024 interview. "It was made through blood, sweat, and tears. We really worked hard. The script is from 2020. It made me very emotional because I trained for a year. I saw the movie, the trailer, and other things that were familiar to me. It's a great story." In an Instagram post in January 2024, Maris shared how the movie further molded her as an actress saying: "Sa film na 'to, I've grown so much as an actress."
Meanwhile, Maris star as Gab in Incognito from January to July. Incognito is an action series about a group of misfits seeking redemption as they take on dangerous missions for a private military company. She starred in the series alongside Richard Gutierrez, Baron Geisler, Anthony Jennings, Kaila Estrada, Ian Veneracion, and Daniel Padilla. Sosyal Climbers was released in February on Netfix. The series follows two aspiring socialites who, after being buried in debt by a scam, create elaborate fake identities to con wealthy elites out of their money. She headlined the movie with Anthony Jennings.
In September, Maris joined FPJ's Batang Quiapo. In a reel posted by Dreamscape Entertainment, the actress remarked that it was a dream to star in the series. "'Hindi lang about Batang Quiapo but like to work with Coco Martin," she stated. "Super saya. Unang-una I can't believe nasa Batang Quiapo set ako. And the show has been going on for almost three years and I'm just really, really happy to be part of it."
