Marian Rivera says doing 'Balota' film brought back her fulfillment at work

July 11 ------ Marian Rivera has capped off the shooting of her Cinemalaya film "Balota" and the experience has been nothing short of fulfilling. In Vonne Aquino's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, the Kapuso Primetime Queen shared during the press launch of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival that her fulfillment for work returned after she finished doing "Balota." "Hindi ko mapaliwanag 'yung pakiramdam ko after kong matapos 'yung balota, parang palagi kong sinasabi lalo na sa asawa ko na, alam mo 'yung antagal ko sa showbiz pero parang bumalik ulit 'yung fulfillment ko sa sarili ko sa paggawa ng trabaho," she said.

"Balota" is among the 10 full-length films that are finalists at the upcoming 20th Cinemalaya film fest this August. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Kip Oebanda, "Balota" follows the story of a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town. Marian will play the role of Emmy, a teacher who serves in the election. Emmy runs into the wilderness with a ballot box, the last copy of the election results, when violence in their town erupts.

Last week, GMA Pictures dropped a gripping 15-second teaser video of "Balota." Aside from "Balota," the film "Lost Sabungeros" will also premiere at Cinemalaya. "Lost Sabungeros" is the first-ever investigative docu-film of GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures and centers on the sabungeros or cockfighting enthusiasts who have been missing since 2022. Recently, Marian was among the recipients of the Box-Office Hero award at the 7th Eddys Awards with her husband Dingdong Dantes. other recipients include Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards, Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes, and Piolo Pacual. Marian also recently served as a judge at the Century Tuna Superbods 2024, where she delighted viewers after she gamely translated into English a question for one of the candidates.
