MANILA, Philippines, April 16 ------ Kapuso star Marian Rivera will revive her acting chops after two years for the upcoming Prime Video series "Behind Closed Doors." The project was unveiled during the Prime Video Present: Philippines event last April 14 in Makati, where the streaming platform unveiled its upcoming slate of local content.
Marian represented the developing show alongside GMA Network director Dominic Zapata, whom Marian previously worked with on "Darna," "My Beloved," "Temptation of Wife," and "Carmela: Ang Pinakamagandang Babae sa Mundong Ibabaw."
During the event, Zapata jokingly noted he's worked with Marian's husband, Dingdong Dantes, several times since their last collaboration over a decade ago and was glad to be reunited with the actress. Since "Carmela: Ang Pinakamagandang Babae sa Mundong Ibabaw," Zapata has directed Dingdong in "Alyas Robin Hood," "Descendants of the Sun," "Royal Blood," "Poor Señorita," and the upcoming show "The Master Cutter."
In "Behind Closed Doors," Marian will portray a sharp-tongued radio announcer who has a secret affair with the Philippine President, making her the prime suspect in his assassination and the central focus of the leader's daughter. Portraying the presidential daughter is Jillian Ward, while the president will be played by — likely to Zapata's amusement — Dingdong in a special guest capacity. "Walang dahilan para mag-no for this project kasi ang off-beat niya para sa akin," said Marian onstage during the event.
Marian's last acting projects were her award-winning film "Balota" and the sci-fi drama "My Guardian Alien," both in 2024, though she's continued hosting the anthology show "Tadhana" and remains a judge on dance competition series "Stars on the Floor."
