April 25 ------ Power couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes will receive the Bida sa Takilya plum at the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) awards, following their success with the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Rewind.”
Rivera and Dantes’ recognition was announced by the awards-giving body on Facebook on Monday, April 22, with FAMAS saying the award is given to actors cast in hit Philippine films. “Marian Rivera, FAMAS Bida sa Takilya Awardee. For being the lead actress of the movie “Rewind” which is the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time,” its caption read. A separate announcement for Dantes was posted on Facebook as well.“Dingdong Dantes, FAMAS Bida sa Takilya Awardee. Established in 1986, FAMAS presents the Bida sa Takilya Award to actors part of the lead cast in blockbuster movies under its deliberation period. “Rewind,” which revolves around John (Dingdong Dantes) getting a second chance to save his dead wife Mary (Marian Rivera), is currently the highest-grossing Philippine film after earning P902 million.
The record was previously owned by “Hello, Love, Goodbye” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards. Details on this year’s FAMAS nominees and date of the awards ceremony are yet to be announced, as of this writing.
