Marcos to attend proclamation, Duterte unsure

Metro Manila, Philippines, May 25 ------ Presumptive president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will surely attend the proclamation ceremony slated by Congress this afternoon (May 25).

"He will attend. We're looking at around 4 p.m., between 4 to 6 p.m. probably that the canvassing will be completed and that president-elect Bongbong and vice president-elect Inday Sara Duterte will be officially declared the winners and proclaimed by the joint houses of Congress," Marcos' spokesperson Atty. Vic Rodriguez said. The proclamation ceremony is expected around 5 p.m. The attendance of Duterte, however, remains unsure. Her spokesperson said she has made commitments in Visayas. "She will endeavor to attend the proclamation and exert her best efforts to make it on time to Manila," Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco said.

The lawmakers convened as the joint canvassing committee today to resume the official tally of votes from the remaining COCs, including the ones from the special elections in Lanao del Sur. The canvassing of the remaining COCs is expected to be quick because the lawyers of presidential bets Vice President Leni Robredo and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno had no objection to the inclusion of all COCs in the official tally of votes. Marcos and Duterte are the winners of the presidential and vice presidential races, respectively, based on the unofficial count of the Commission on Elections.
