August 14 ------ Manny Jacinto shared how his parents have always remained anchored to their Filipino roots when they were raising him. "They've always kept in touch with their Filipino roots. I think they always get their news from the Philippines, even though we've lived in Canada for so long now, for decades. But they've always kept in touch with family here. And this is always gonna be home for them," he remarked in an interview with MJ Felipe on Are You G? on TFC.
When asked why it's important for him to stay in touch with his Filipino roots, Manny replied: "It's just because of who we are. Even though we moved to North America, whether it's Canada or the States, we always feel like ourselves amongst fellow Filipinos. When we visited here with my parents two years ago, they were so happy to be here. My whole dad's side of the family is still here as well. Because the journey is so long and also expensive, they don't get to come home as often, so now, as they get older, I want them to come home to the Philippines as much as they can."
The Freakier Friday star also talked about his life in Canada, sharing that he was lucky the city has such a very strong Filipino community. "I'm very fortunate that Vancouver is a very diverse community, so you kind of keep in touch with your Filipino roots and everything. It has a strong Filipino community."
Manny recently visited the Philippines for the promotional tour of Freakier Friday. "I just love being back home to the Philippines and getting to promote the film 'cause I’ve never been able to come to the Philippines to promote anything,” Manny remarked on visiting the Philippines in an interview with ABS-CBN News. The actor remarked that connecting to his roots is a special moment for him. "To connect back to the roots and everything, just to spread love to the Filipino fans. To always touch base, to connect to the community back here 'cause it means a lot to me," he said.
