Manibela kicks off transport strike vs corruption

MANILA, Philippines, September 17 ------ As early as 6 a.m. today, some members of transport group Manibela started to gather for the start of their three-day transport strike against corruption in the government in connection with anomalies in flood control projects. “Tama na, sobra na. Labanan ang korapsyon,” Balbuena emphasized.

Aside from Philcoa, other members of Manibela are likewise staging protests in other areas of the country, such as in Baguio, Pangasinan, Bacolod, Legazpi, Ormoc, Samar, and Davao. Balbuena said around 100,000 of its 300,000 members are expected to participate in the strike, which will continue until Friday, September 19.

Meanwhile, another transport group, Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide, or Piston, will also hold its transport strike on Thursday, September 18, against corruption.
