April 26 ------ Kapamilya actor and host Luis Manzano got candid about the difference he saw in himself now that he has a family of his own. In an interview with fellow Pinoy Big Brother host Bianca Gonzalez, the celebrity father bared the “anxiety or fear” that he has as he wants to provide “a certain life” for his family.
Luis tied the knot with Kapamilya actress Jessy Mendiola in a civil ceremony in Batangas City back in February 2021. They then welcomed their first child, Isabella Rose, whom they fondly call Peanut, in December of the following year. “The biggest change is –– and I don’t mean this to scare soon-to-be parents — but para sa akin may konti na akong nararamdaman. Call it anxiety or maybe a bit of fear because I want to provide a certain life to my family,” he admitted. “I’m not saying a 20-story home or ganyan. I just have this image of a life I want to give my family,” he added.
The Kapamilya star added how he saw a different definition of riches on social media. “Minsan, kung may hindi ako nakukuha parang sayang, pwede ko sanang gamitin yun for this, for that. I just want na hindi naman sa hindi problemahin ang pera–– hindi yun. But siguro naging iba na, I saw a couple of memes na yung nakalagay,” he said. “When you say riches, it’s not always a Rolex, a Lamborghini, or ganyan. Kumbaga, rich na if there’s one day na hindi ko kailangan mag trabaho to spend with my family, it’s okay, na I’m healthy, [and] if I need to go to Peanut’s play or recital, I’ll be able to without worrying kung makakaganyan pa,” he continued.
While Luis became candid about the difference he saw in himself after becoming a father, he maintained it’s not something to scare off future parents. “I’m sure pag nandiyan na yung blessing, you’ll understand what I’m saying. Now, kumbaga uncertainty is a bit more tangible, parang ganun. Before, gimik days natin diba okay lang yan. Pero now, it’s something that you sleep with ––– and sometimes when you wake up it’s still there,” he ended.
