MANILA, Philippines, October 7 ------ The state-run weather agency said it was closely monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which may become a tropical depression in 24 hours. Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said, however, that the LPA has a slim chance of entering PAR.

Meanwhile, he said at least three weather systems were now affecting the entire archipelago, with the northeasterly wind flow bringing cloudy skies with rains over Bicol Region and Quezon province.

Mindanao, Visayas, and Palawan will be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the national weather bureau said.

Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Aurora will likely have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated light rains also due to the northeasterly wind flow - wind that blows from the northeast and can bring rain and colder temperatures.

Pagasa said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms would prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the localized thunderstorms.
