MANILA, August 19 ------ The low pressure area hovering over northeast of Itbayat, Batanes has developed into a tropical depression, according to weather bureau PAGASA. It has been named "Dindo." Dindo's location was estimated 560 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It is moving westward at 20 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.
PAGASA said Dindo is unlikely to directly affect the weather condition in the country within the forecast period, although it might turn into a tropical storm on Monday. The weather disturbance is forecast to move generally northward until Monday morning before turning northwestward in the afternoon.
Dindo may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the next 12 hours and cross near Ryukyu Islands, Japan.
