May 7 ------ The new prime original series “Love Is Never Gone” hopes to make a relatable romantic drama go-to series on love and family. Set in Morocco, “Love Is Never Gone” follows the story of Teo (Joshua Garcia), an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) hoping to make ends meet. He also crossed paths with Yana (Ivana Alawi), a pickpocket who has an ailing mother.

“Nung ginagawa ‘yung kwento, ang ano sa amin, it has to be full of action also,” director Manny Palo said about the Dreamscape Entertainment-produced show in a recent press briefing. “When I direct any project, any series, I consider first and foremost the narrative. Second, all the other elements like location and all the elements within the location, kung paano ko gagamitin ‘yan, and the actors, of course. We always firmly believe that our audience deserves nothing else,” he added.

Aside from its action scenes, director Jojo Saguin said that Ivana and Joshua’s chemistry stood out from the show. “The action scenes, plus the undeniable chemistry of Ivana and Joshua, mayroon talaga. ‘Yung titigan pa lang nandoon na with the texture of Morocco in the background,” she said. For Joshua, it was an easy yes for him to be part of the show. Ivana echoed Joshua’s sentiments, and as a Filipino-Moroccan, it was a dream come true for her to be a part of the series. “Sobrang saya dahil everyone feels like family already, and of course, ‘Love Is Never Gone’ is my dream project. Excited akong mapanood niyo ‘to dahil grabe ‘yung effort and grabe ‘yung pagmamahal na binuhos ng bawat isa rito,” she said.

“Grabe ‘yung kwento na it’s action, love. Sabi ko, yes. Tas isu-shoot daw sa abroad, ay bongga, first time ko kasi ‘yun, eh. Tas sinabi ni Direk Manny, ay, natakot ako. Ginagawa ko lang siya dati sa vlog. Tas ngayon nakita ko na siya. Mahirap pala siya kapag teleserye,” she added. Also part of the show are Jameson Blake, Jane Oineza, Dina Bonnevie, Michael de Mesa, Epy Quizon, Fyang Smith, JM Ibarra, JC Alcantara, Rans Rifol, Kiko Matos, Argel Saycon, Alex Medina, Benj Manalo, Carlo San Juan, Heart Ramos, along with Ara Mina and Irma Adlawan.

Dina admitted that the storylines of some TV series have been repetitive and the show can offer something different to the audience. “Minsan kasi nakakapagod kapag paulit-ulit ‘yung story. Like sabi ko nga, kadalasan sa mga TV series natin na napapanood, palagi ang issue, nawalan ng anak, na-in-love sila ‘yun pala magkapatid sila, but it’s always the issue of may nawalan ng anak, nagkapalit ‘yung anak, nawawala ‘yung nanay,” she said.

The actress stressed that “Love Is Never Gone” deals with many topics that many people can relate to. “Napaka-common, parang wala na bang ibang kwento? But with this, ‘Love Is Never Gone,’ this is more Hollywood than Filipino, kasi there’s a lot of action in it, and it’s so timely,” Dina said. “Here, we deal with the issues on human trafficking, mayroon smuggling… sabi ko ito dapat ang napapanood, may action, may sex, may love, may romance, may family, parang every person can relate. Lahat ng character, mayroong isang taong makakapulot ng hugot doon na ako ‘yan,” she added.

For direk Jojo, the show hopes to remind people of the value of love for the family. “Kung saan ka man pumunta, babalik at babalik ka sa pamilya. With all the struggles, heartache, pain, may pamilya na uuwian,” she said.
