April 8 ------ The Liberian Registry has called on maritime stakeholders, including shipowners, managers, crewing agencies, and operators, to review and strengthen their seafarer compliance frameworks amid evolving regulatory demands.

In response to global developments, the Liberian Registry’s Seafarer Certification and Documentation Department is advancing enhanced compliance measures through next-generation digital systems. These initiatives include the integration of system-based compliance checks throughout the seafarer application and credential issuance lifecycle to strengthen oversight while supporting legitimate maritime operations.

By embedding compliance protocols into application and verification processes, the Registry seeks to reinforce identity verification, improve traceability, and ensure the integrity of its issued documentation in line with international standards. These efforts reflect a forward-looking approach to seafarer compliance, aimed at supporting responsible vessel operations, protecting seafarers, and preserving the integrity of the Liberian flag in an increasingly complex global environment.

The Registry emphasized its longstanding commitment to quality, compliance, and reputation within the maritime industry. It highlighted the development of advanced compliance systems applied from the initial engagement with seafarers, vessels, and corporate entities, which are continuously maintained to ensure adherence to international regulations and to mitigate regulatory risk for clients and counterparties. "The regulatory environment has changed, and the industry must adapt. As the leading flag in the maritime industry, the Liberian Registry has made significant investments into compliance safeguarding and proactive monitoring. In doing so, we are setting a new standard for the industry and call on all responsible parties to implement stricter compliance processes as well," stated Alfonso Castillero, CEO of the Liberian Registry.

To remind, in November 20205, the Bahamas Maritime Authority entered into a strategic partnership with IDsure, to enable the secure issuance of digital Seafarer Record Books and Competency Certificates.
