August 21 ------ Leon Barretto is proud of the growth that his sister Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia showed in their reunion film “Un/Happy For You,” while noting their “remarkable” acting prowess. Leon said on Instagram that the film explores the “crucial need for closure” and allows viewers to realize that understanding “both perspectives” in a relationship is a must.
He also shared glimpses of the film’s premiere night and after party, and what seemed to be a film date with friends in his post. “It reminds us to prioritize our own self-worth, recognizing that sometimes, letting go is the most loving thing we can do for someone else. To be genuinely happy for an ex, despite the pain, showcases a maturity and deep respect for what was once shared,” Leon added.
The internet personality then praised Julia and Joshua’s “stunning performances,” and director Petersen Vargas for “delivering a film that resonates with our generation,” saying they contributed to the revival of local cinema. Leon said: “@garciajoshuae and @juliabarretto deliver stunning performances, their growth as actors truly remarkable. Having followed their journey together on screen, it’s amazing to see how far they’ve come. The rest of the cast also shines, bringing authenticity and depth to their characters.” “Kudos to the director [Petersen Vargas] for delivering a film that resonates with our generation, and for the incredible cinematography that beautifully captures both sides of the story… you’ve all contributed to the revival of Filipino cinema, and the success is well-deserved,” he further added.
Leon also said his sister’s success in the reunion film is well deserved. “Juju, so so proud of [you], [you] deserve this moment. I know how much you have worked so hard for this project. Happy for you,” he wrote.
