June 19 ------ Laurice Guillen, Odette Khan, Perla Bautista, Pen Medina, Rosemarie Gil, and Eddie Mesa are set to be honored with the Movie Icon plums at the eighth edition of the Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards (EDDYs) in July.
The film personalities are recognized for their dedication to their craft, contributions, and “lasting influence” in the film industry, according to a statement by Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) president Salve Asis. “It has long been our tradition to honor the pillars and veterans of the movie industry. In addition to their talent and contributions to Philippine cinema, their legacy continues to inspire both seasoned artists and the new generation of actors,” she said.
Other special awards that will be given out are the Isah V. Red Award, the Joe Quirino Award, the Manny Pichel Award, the Producer of the Year, and the EDDYs Box Office Hero Award. Fourteen more awards will be given at the star-studded ceremony based on films released in theaters and digital platforms in 2024.
An actress and a filmmaker, Guillen is currently the president of the Cinemalaya Foundation, Inc., and is best known for her roles in “Nagalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi” and “Moral.”
Khan has made a name for herself as an actress with a knack for strong personalities in films and TV series such as “Bar Boys,” “Anak,” “James & Pat & Dave,” “Ika-6 na Utos,” and “Kahit Ako’y Lupa.”
