Lauren Dyogi reveals the new safety protocols for the new housemates of PBB Connect

December 4 ------ After opening online auditions for the newest season of Pinoy Big Brother last October, PBB Connect director Lauren Dyogi revealed they received more than 170,000 audition clips via Kumu from aspiring hosuemates all over the Philippines and the world.

“This is emotionally significant for all of us because of the pandemic. Parang magka-disconnect tayo. We are trying to connect everybody again, literally, figuratively, importante sa atin ang pag-ko-connect. Sa mga nangyari sa atin, parang naghahanap tayo ng something familiar. We want to go back to an experience na na-mi-miss mo and having that opportunity to bring back PBB in this particular time with yung ating mga host, parang ang sarap sa puso, sa pakiramdam na exciting na babalik ang PBB this year. This is something we can look forward to. What with everything that happened, this is a good feeling na we have something na nakasanayan natin, something na magugustuhan ng lahat. It’s like comfort food. Wala pang hinahandugan ng comfort food na tumatanggi,” he shared during the PBB Connect mediacon held last December 3.

The Kapamilya director said there were initially no plans to start a new season this year after PBB Otso finished last year. “Ang iniisip ko lagi rin, sa nangyayari ngayon bakit kailangan magkaroon ng PBB is a question. Nasa utak ko yan. Is that providential? May gusto bang sabihin? Kasi wala talaga ito sa plano namin this year. We just had a recent edition and it’s a good time to take a break. But we didn’t realize in eight months of quarantine, Kumu actually had the idea of bringing back PBB. So we’re very happy with the partnership. May surprise tayo so huwag sila bibitaw kasi marami pang magaganap. Pasimula pa lang tayo,” he explained.

With the popular reality series all set to start on December 6, direk Lauren said he and the entire production crew are proud and confident about all the safety protocols that everyone including the new housemates went through to ensure everyone’s health and safety before the show. “ABS-CBN in general are very, very strict with their protocols kasi natatakot nga kami na may magkasakit so talagang sobra, meron kaming protocols. But for PBB, we had the usual naman. We had a medical test, a psychological test, and all the physical tests. Pero ngayon importante siyempre, everyone came in earlier to do 14 days of quarantine and isolation. So that when they go inside the house, everybody is clear and everybody is negative and it’s the safest bubble. That house will be the safest bubble. It’s disinfected, it’s cleaned. Walang ibang makakapasok doon na hindi siguradong 100% clear of any COVID or anything. So that will be a very, very, very safe place,” he said.
