May 22 ------ Behind every mother is a battle won in silence, and Kylie Padilla is finally giving that silence a voice. The Encantadia star took to Facebook to share a "triggering post," where she opened up about the raw and painful realities of her pregnancy and postpartum journey.
Before opening up about her own journey, she previously shared the story of another mother battling postpartum depression, which she described as very "personal" to her. "After giving birth to my 2nd son, I also suffered and still suffer from complications of childbirth, or "binat" as they call it," she wrote.
The celebrity mom then talked about serious complications from a spinal cord injection after childbirth, which left her unable to walk for nearly three months. During that difficult time, she also endured severe headaches, nerve pain, and overfatigue. Despite these challenges, Kylie faced additional struggles with breastfeeding, making her postpartum journey even more exhausting and painful. She related, "So all the stress anxiety and body pain ABSOLUTELY TOOK A TOLL ON MY BODY. I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVER RECOVER. I never thought I would ever get passed that dark place that I was in. My support system then was also lacking. Mahirap iexplain sa mga hindi nakakaintindi ng 'binat.'"
At the end of her post, she urged everyone to support paid maternity leave and raise awareness about postpartum depression. "Mothers deserve time to rest their bodies and minds after childbirth. They deserve to be able to take care of themselves as well as their children," she added. "We need a world where everyone feels supported!!!! So our moms can better take care of our children!!!!!"
