May 29 ------ Last year, Kuh Ledesma and daughter Isabella paid tribute to mothers and the bond they have with their children in the post-Mother’s Day concert titled “I Love You Mom.” This year, they’re mounting another similar show but with a familiar and fascinating title, “Oh, Mama Mia!!!.” The date is May 31 while the venue is at the Hacienda Isabella.

“Not really,” replied Kuh in an e-mail chat with The STAR to the inquiry if the show was inspired by the ABBA 1975 hit song and the musical. “Although the title ‘Mama Mia’ may remind people of the ABBA song and the musical, our concept isn’t directly inspired by that.” “We simply liked the expression ‘Mamma Mia’ — it has a nice ring to it, especially for a post–Mother’s Day show. It sounds like fun and funny and warm,” added she. “And it feels like a perfect expression for celebrating mothers and womanhood in a very special way.” “I Love You Mom” told and depicted the love of a parent for a child and the latter’s love for a parent via a collection of tunes.

As for “Oh, Mama Mia!!!,” its storyline is about the celebration of “all kinds of mothers,” shared Kuh. “Not just biological moms, but also those who take on a mother’s role in someone’s life. It could be a grandmother, aunt, teacher, mentor, or even a single dad. And even fur moms!” “We honor these women (and people) whose love, care and sacrifices have made a lasting impact on our lives. It’s a special tribute to these amazing women.”

The team of Kuh and Isabella has given this paper bits and pieces about the show’s core theme, which is the perseverance of a mother’s love. It will be brought to the fore through the songs and banter between the featured artists. “One of God’s greatest blessings is the love of a mother for her child,” the information says. “It is selfless. It is enduring. A mother is willing to sacrifice without expecting anything in return.” “She forgives without hesitation and prays constantly for her child. A mother’s love is steadfast, especially when life becomes messy. It doesn’t give up, it doesn’t give in — it continues to hope and believe even when others no longer do. It is a love that stands the test of time — just like the bond between Kuh Ledesma and her daughter, Isabella,” it continues.

In a previous article, Kuh said that their mother-and-daughter relationship is nurtured by music. They cherish moments spent together “listening to songs, discovering new songs that we can do for our next show or concept (show),” shared the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) artist and icon. “We love listening to old songs we can joyfully sing along to,” added she. “Whether it’s just lazily listening on the couch or dancing around to upbeat tunes, music creates a unique connection between us.”And sharing the stage for a musical showcase is one activity that further bonds their connection as a mom and a child.
