April 15 ------ KEVIN Quiambao powered Goyang Sono a step closer to a semifinals berth after taking down Seoul SK Knights, 80-72, in Game 2 of their Korean Basketball League quarterfinal series at Jamsil Students’ Gym in Seoul.

Coming off a dominant 104-76 playoff debut, the Skygunners now sit just one win away from setting up a semis clash against top-seed Changwon LG Sakers led by Quiambao's high school teammate in Carl Tamayo. Quiambao delivered another solid outing with 19 points, five assists, and four rebounds in 36 minutes of play.

His Pinoy counterpart for the Seoul SK Knights in Arvin Tolentino had a muted performance with 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting. Seoul SK came out strong, dictating the tempo and building a 46-34 halftime lead. However, Goyang flipped the script in the third quarter, unloading a massive 29-7 run to seize control of the contest. From there, Quiambao and the Skygunners kept their foot on the gas and never looked back en route to the victory.

The two teams meet again on Thursday, with Goyang looking to close out the series on their home floor, while Seoul SK aims to stay alive.
