August 21 ------ KC Concepcion has officially returned to her role as the National Ambassador Against Hunger for the United Nations World Food Programmed (WFP). Concepcion reaffirmed her advocacy work in raising awareness about hunger and mobilizing support for food security, as seen in the photos posted by WFP Philippines.
Concepcion initially assumed her role as WFP’s National Ambassador Against Hunger in 2008, becoming the first Filipino to hold this distinction. When Concepcion took the post in 2008, she promoted fundraising and visibility for WFP in the Philippines, leveraging her influence across platforms with over 4 million followers. Concepcion also participated in field visits and campaigns, including operations in Nepal and relief efforts following Typhoon Haiyan (2013) and the Nepal Earthquake (2015).
The actress also engaged in feeding programs and public awareness campaigns to support vulnerable communities during disasters. After her reappointment, Concepcion’s mother, Sharon Cuneta, took to Instagram to express how proud she was of her daughter. KC is Cuneta’s only daughter with actor Gabby Concepcion. “My children and my husband are the only people I truly live for. Thank You, Jesus, for giving me a husband and kids who love me to the moon and back and make me so proud!” the megastar captioned as she reposted WFP’s latest post on Concepcion.
The World Food Programmed is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and is considered a global leader in fighting hunger and improving food security. In 2020, the WFP was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts in combating hunger amid conflict-affected areas, serving over 97 million people in 88 countries in 2019 alone. WFP also works with celebrities and public figures worldwide as Goodwill Ambassadors, who help boost the organization’s visibility and humanitarian outreach.
