April 16 ------ Kathryn Bernardo has returned to Bhutan 14 years after filming scenes for her hit teleserye “Princess and I.” Bernardo recently shared glimpses of her trip, where she went on hiking activities and sightseeing, marking a full-circle moment tied to one of her most iconic roles.
“This trend again… but make it Bhutan edition,” the actress simply captioned the post. In the comments section, celebrity friends and netizens referenced Bernardo’s role in “Princess and I” as they called her Princess Mikay.
The Kapamilya star first visited Bhutan in 2012 during the production of “Princess and I.” The show followed the story of Maria Mikaela “Mikay” Maghirang, played by Bernardo, an ordinary Filipino girl who later discovers she is Princess Areeyah, the long-lost heir to a fictional kingdom inspired by Bhutan.
The series, which also starred Bernardo’s former real-life boyfriend and on-screen partner Daniel Padilla, featured scenes shot on location in Bhutan. It also starred Gretchen Barretto, Albert Martinez, Enrique Gil, and Khalil Ramos, among others.
Meanwhile, Bernardo recently made headlines after she was treated to a birthday surprise by her celebrity friends and “Someone, Someday” co-stars Maja Salvador and James Reid. “Someone, Someday” marks the first collaboration between Bernardo and Reid. The series is set to premiere later this year. Bernardo is also making headlines for her rumored relationship with Lucena Mayor Mark Alcala after they were spotted together hanging out in public numerous times.
