July 9 declared a holiday for Eid’l Adha

Metro Manila, July 7 ------ President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. has declared July 9 as a regular holiday in the country in observance of Eid’l Adha, the Office of the Press Secretary confirmed.

Marcos’ Proclamation No.2 states that the country celebrates this Islamic holiday under Republic Act 9849 but with a movable date based on the Muslim calendar. It added that the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended the date in observance of the feast. Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam. “The observance of Eid’l Adha shall be subject to the public health measures of the national government,” it added.

Metro Manila and 85 of 121 provinces and highly urbanized cities and independent component cities in the country remain under the laxest Alert Level 1 COVID-19 restriction until July 15.
