December 4 ------ “Asia’s Limitless Star” Julie Anne San Jose has filled hearts with warmth and hope through her new comeback single, “Simula.” The track marks a symbolic new chapter in her music career and stands as her first self-produced release, a milestone she says means a lot to her and her supporters.

During a press conference, San Jose spoke openly about how the song reflects major shifts in her life and work. Asked about new beginnings and what she hopes to pursue personally and professionally, she said, “I feel like I’m starting again. I’m in a constant state of transition, but this time I really want to try theater. I’ve never done theater, and many people have told me to give it a shot because they think it suits me. I just need to manage my time well since I’m already busy with shows like ‘All Out Sundays’ and ‘The Voice Kids.’”

As she reflected on exploring new creative paths, she also opened up about the pace of her current projects and how she balances her career with her personal life. “I’m pretty busy, especially now with my new songs. I need to keep that momentum going and continue it next year because I’ll also be doing an overseas show. In my personal life, growth and adulting are very important. As for matters of the heart, I’m happy — and whatever you want to know, you should probably ask Rayver,” she laughed.

Talking about her new single, San Jose described “Simula” as a song that captures the feeling of starting over, even when the path isn’t perfect. According to her, “Simula is such an uplifting and positive song, but it also reminds us that it’s okay to be lost sometimes.” The track, she noted, mirrors her artistic evolution. She explained that her sound continues to change as she embraces new ideas and genres. “My music is about evolution. I’m not afraid to try new things or innovate,” she said.

She envisioned “Simula” as a song that can accompany listeners in many moments — whether traveling, reflecting, healing, or moving forward. “It can be an anthem for every aspect of life,” she added, noting how intentional she was about keeping the track emotional yet hopeful. “I used different elements and really had to be hands-on. It feels so good. I feel fulfilled.”

As for why the song took time to release, she said timing played a significant role. “Maybe the right timing is really important. I wrote it when we were transitioning from the pandemic to the new normal. People were going through a lot, and there were so many life reflections. At that time, I wasn’t ready to put it out there,” she explained.

The song traces its origins to her work on the Limitless Musical Trilogy, a three-part online and television concert event. “I wrote it when I was doing the Limitless Trilogy. We shot the first part in Sultan Kudarat. That’s where it all started,” she said. She recalled sitting in the mountains with her guitar and deciding she would write a song. During a limited-capacity mini concert, she performed it for the first time. “Then I realized we didn’t have an official audio release, so now we finally do.”

Finally, San Jose hinted that “Simula” is just the beginning of a larger body of work. She is already gathering material for a future project. “I’m collecting materials, working with different producers, seeing where it goes. It depends on my schedule because I’m busy nowadays, but I squeeze music in whenever I can,” she said. “Simula” is now streaming on digital platforms and offers a hopeful start for fans following San Jose into her next chapter.
