March 3 ------ Jodi Sta. Maria is now enrolled in her master’s degree program. "After the setbacks and delays… it's finally happening 🥹 Officially enrolled in my MA in Psychology with Specialization in Family Life Development," she announced on her Facebook page. Expressing her gratitude, she said, "Delayed doesn’t mean denied. Thank You, Lord."
Among the subjects she will be taking in her first semester for her master's degree are Family Dynamics and Mental Health, Child Care and Adolescent Development, and Adulthood and Aging, for a total of 9 units.
In a previous interview with Boy Abunda, Jodi shared why she wanted to focus on her education. "For the past 27 years, naniniwala ako hindi naman ako tumigil eh, dere-derecho 'yan from the time na ni-launch ako back in the '90s hanggang sa last year dere-derecho 'yung trabaho. So ang naisip ko, may mga bagay akong gustong gawin din sa life ko," she highlighted.
The actress explained that her decision does not mean she is stepping away from acting, but that she is currently focusing on other personal aspirations. "I'm not saying na hindi ako pinapasaya ng passion ko for acting, but sometimes may mga bagay ka lang na alam mo sa sarili mo na meron ka pang ibang gustong gawin at meron ka pang ibang pwedeng gawin," she said.
The actress graduated Cum Laude with a psychology degree in 2021. Jodi previously shared with the media that she was planning to create an extension study of her thesis back in college titled "The Impact of the NADA Protocol (Ear Acudetox) on the Anxiety Level of People Working in Television Production" once she pursued her master's degree. "Now I am really excited for my [future] paper because it's going to be an extension study of this paper," the actress said in a past interview.
