Jessica Soho on being an inaugural inductee to Rolling Stone PH Hall of Fame

November 19 ------ Jessica Soho has another feather on her cap as she is named one of the six inaugural inductees to the Rolling Stone Philippines Hall of Fame.

In an exclusive interview with GMA News Online at the sidelines of “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho: The Gabi ng Lagim” movie press conference, the award-winning broadcast journalist said it is an honor to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. “Of course, it’s an honor. 'Rolling Stone' yan eh,” she told GMA News Online.

According to Soho, she couldn’t turn down the magazine’s interview request because it was Jonty Aquino-Cruz, who personally asked the favor. Jonty is the chief of editorial content of Rolling Stone Philippines and the grandson of former President Corazon Aquino, who is a significant figure in Soho's journalism career.

According to Soho, it was her way of returning the favor the Aquino family had extended to her over the years. “Ang dami nilang itulong sa akin noong araw. Lagi ako may access sa mga Aquino family. So hindi ko matanggihan si Jonty,” Soho said, adding, “nagpapasalamat ako sa kanila siyempre.”

The Kapuso journalist feels proud and happy to be part of the list alongside prominent industry leaders like Kidlat Tahimik and Paeng Nepomuceno. But beyond feeling honored, Soho said the recognition puts pressure on her to work even harder in delivering pressing stories. “Everyday kasi, ang dami ng pressure na nararanasan ko eh sa pagbuo ng mga kwento ng KMJS. So I'll take it as more pressure for me to even work harder,” she said.

The journalist said the recognition is a proud moment for her and her team, who have been working hard on projects like the ongoing “Kurakot” series. Soho added that the honor serves as both a bonus and motivation, along with added pressure to continue doing meaningful work for the country. “Para mabigyan ako ng pagkilala — wow, bonus yun. Actually, more motivation, dagdag na pressure to keep on doing what needs to be done for the country, para sa bayan,” she said.
