October 5 ------ Award-winning broadcast journalist Jessica Soho is finally branching out into movies as she brings her eponymous long-running infotainment program on GMA, “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” (KMJS) to the big screen. KMJS will bring to life some of the scariest segments featured on its show through the “KMJS Gabi ng Lagim: The Movie,” with Soho still as host/presenter.

Kapuso celebrities such as Jillian Ward, Sanya Lopez, Miguel Tanfelix, and Elijah Canlas of Cornerstone Entertainment, will headline the upcoming horror film. GMA Pictures announced the casting on Instagram on Wednesday as they released the official headshot photos of the aforementioned actors. “Mapapanood na sa sinehan ang aming team! (Our team will be available to watch in theaters),” read the caption. “Hindi mo ito kakayaning panoorin nang mag-isa! (You won’t be able to watch this alone).”  Other details about “Gabi ng Lagim: The Movie,” including the release date, have not been released as of writing.

The film serves as the adaptation of the annual “KMJS” Halloween special, which began as a regular segment since 2013. It showcases dramatizations of alleged paranormal encounters, urban legends, and horror stories. In 2024, “Gabi ng Lagim XII” recorded a total rating of 15.9 percent in Urban Philippines, while its livestream peaked at 359,000 concurrent viewers, the highest in the series’ history.

Meanwhile, Ward, who rose to fame as a child actress in “Trudis Liit,” recently headlined the medical drama “Abot Kamay na Pangarap.” She last appeared in the romantic comedy series “My Ilonggo Girl,” where she portrayed dual roles. Canlas, on the other hand, is known for his award-winning role in “Kalel, 15.” He was last seen in ABS-CBN’s teen drama series “Senior High” and “High Street.” Lopez, meanwhile, gained recognition for her roles in “Encantadia” and “Pulang Araw.” She headlined the fantasy series “Mga Lihim ni Urduja” in 2023 and “First Lady” in 2022. Tanfelix recently top-billed the drama action series “Mga Batang Riles” and the science fantasy “Voltes V: Legacy.” He was also part of the hosting duties for “Running Man Philippines.”
