May 16 ------ LIKE Bella Belen, also at a crossroads on where to take her talents next is National U’s decorated winger Alyssa Solomon. The two-time UAAP best opposite hitter already declared her intent to part ways with the Jhocson side by the end of Season 87.

As such, she’ll be leaving the blue-and-gold just like how she entered the college ranks — a champion. “Sobrang saya kasi ito talaga yung goal namin nu’ng Season 85 pa lang na mabigyan ‘yung NU ng back-to-back championships,” Solomon said moments after the Lady Bulldogs' crowning moment in Game 2 of the finals. “Sobrang grateful din talaga kasi marami akong natutunan sa loob ng seven years sa NU. Dadalhin ko yung mga natutunan ko ngayon sa next chapter ko."

When it comes to that ‘next chapter,’ there are still more questions than answers. Solomon’s first crack at the pros fell flat, as she had to forego her spot in the 2025 Korean Volleyball League (KOVO) Asian Quota Draft while the Season 87 elimination round was still ongoing. It was an opportunity she had to renege on to avoid jeopardizing her UAAP eligibility.

Now that her time with the Lady Bulldogs is done and dusted, she is free to explore every possible option for her career. SPIN.ph learned midway through the season that Solomon is considering to tread an overseas path similar to that of fellow NU icon in Jaja Santiago (Sachi Minowa), who just won the Japan SV.League title in her final season.

While the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft is still an option, it isn’t her top priority for the time being, as there is only eight days left before the league’s application deadline for aspiring applicants. But before Japan or the PVL, what’s clear about Solomon’s next plans is her intent to train with Alas Pilipinas for a second stint as a national team player. “Let’s see pa. For now, ang nasa isip ko is rest muna and then may Alas pa eh. I think, ‘yun, mag-Alas muna,” Solomon said. “Excited ako kasi iba na ulit yung mga kasama ko, so I think marami akong natutunan ulit sa kanila.”

Wherever Solomon’s career takes her next, one thing she’s sure of is the legacy she’ll leave behind with the Lady Bulldogs — one bent on winning and dominating. As she put it, “‘Yung heart of a champion ‘yung maiiwan namin as seniors na lagi kami nasa finals. ‘Yun ‘yung maiiwan namin sa mga bata, kung paano maglaro under pressure.”
