Jamie Malonzo surprisingly leaves Ginebra, signs with Kyoto in Japan B. League

MANILA, Philippines, August 1 ------ Apparently, it is not just LA Tenorio who is leaving Barangay Ginebra as Jamie Malonzo joins another team in a shock move. In Malonzo’s case, he is bringing his act to Japan after signing with B. League club Kyoto Hannaryz, the team announced.

Losing Malonzo is a big blow to the Gin Kings considering the talent they gave up to acquire him from NorthPort through a three-team trade in 2022 that also involved San Miguel. Ginebra let go of Arvin Tolentino, who rose to PBA stardom during his time with the Batang Pier, even winning a Best Player of the Conference award. Interestingly, Tolentino also left the PBA as he signed with Korean Basketball League team Seoul SK Knights.

Over his three-year run with the Gin Kings, Malonzo helped the team win a championship and reach the finals three times.
