On December 13, 2023, the IMMAJ-PJMCC Foundation, Inc. (FINC) hosted a celebratory luncheon for the 81 IMMAJ scholars and their families at the Mess Hall of the Capt. Gregorio S. Oca Building, Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) Campus, Mariveles, Bataan.
The event started with the presence of guests and sponsors introduced by C/E Cleto del Rosario. Notable attendees included Mr. Toshihito Inoue, Chairman of International Mariners Management Association of Japan (IMMAJ); Capt. Koichi Akamine, former Chairman of IMMAJ; Ms. Reiko Sato, Deputy Secretary General of IMMAJ; Captain Genichi Osaka, IMMAJ Chief Representative; and CE Masataka Fukuta. Additionally, the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines was represented by Mr. Daisuke Nihei, the Economic Minister and Mr. Hiroyuki Kudo, the First Secretary of Economic Affairs.
Captain Gerry T. Chan expressed his gratitude towards the parents and family members in attendance. He then gave a brief introduction of each guest speaker, beginning with FINC Board of Trustee, Capt. Banny Briones, who delivered a warm message to the parents acknowledging their significant contribution to the graduates' accomplishments. He also wished the graduates success in their future careers in the maritime industry. Lastly, he conveyed his appreciation for the support of the IMMAJ and PJMCC. Mr. Toshihito Inoue, IMMAJ Chairman, also expressed his appreciation towards the parents and family members for their support throughout the graduates' journey. He encouraged the graduates to continue to be strong in the face of any future difficulties.
In his farewell speech, Cumlaude Midshipman John Alexis Dang-Awan Quiban expressed his sincere gratitude to all the parents, sponsors, and supporters in attendance who have been with them throughout their stay in MAAP. The event concluded with a photo opportunity, marking the end of the luncheon ceremony for the IMMAJ scholars from the second batch of the Versileas Class of 2023.
