IMMAJ-PJMCC Foundation Hosts Luncheon Honoring First Valhareans Class of 2025 Scholars

On May 27, 2025, the IMMAJ-PJMCC Foundation, Inc. (FINC) hosted a special luncheon to honor 71 IMMAJ scholars from the first batch of Valhareans Class of 2025. The celebration took place at the Mess Hall of the Capt. Gregorio S. Oca Building on the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) campus in Mariveles, Bataan. Among the scholars were 30 graduates from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation program and 41 from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, all accompanied by their proud families.
The program opened with the formal introduction and acknowledgment of esteemed guests and sponsor representatives, presented by Capt. Val Brian Belibor. Distinguished attendees from the International Mariners Management Association of Japan (IMMAJ) included Chairman Mr. Toshihito Inoue, Vice Chairman Capt. Kiyotaka Aya, Director Mr. Shunsuke Imada, Secretary General Mr. Ryoichi Ikeda, and Chief Manila Representative Capt. Genichi Osaka. Representing the Philippine-Japan Manning Consultative Council, Inc. (PJMCC) were incoming President Mr. Marlon R. Roño, and incoming Corporate Secretary Capt. Juanito G. Salvatierra. Also recognized was MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) Advisor Dr. Toshio Hikama.
Captain Gerry T. Chan introduced the graduating scholars along with their parents, expressing sincere appreciation to the families for their invaluable support throughout the students’ academic journey. Mr. Marlon R. Roño followed with an inspiring message, congratulating the graduates and encouraging them to apply the knowledge and skills they gained at MAAP as they embark on their maritime careers. He also extended his gratitude to the faculty and sponsors for their ongoing guidance and support.
Mr. Toshihito Inoue, Chairman of IMMAJ, expressed his appreciation for the graduates and their families. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of three key qualities: integrity, skill, and dedication. “Together, integrity, skill, and dedication will shape your journey and ensure that you not only succeed in your career but also leave a lasting legacy of excellence and professionalism. These qualities are essential for becoming great leaders and respected officers in the maritime world.”
In his concluding remarks he reminded the graduates that, “As you begin this next chapter, know that IMMAJ and your sponsor companies will continue to be a guiding force in your career. Though the journey may have challenges, you will never be alone. Onboard, mentors among seniors and colleagues will support and challenge you, while dedicated teams ashore ensure your safety and success. You are joining a global maritime community committed to your growth. With the Japanese principals, you are truly in good hands.”
In his farewell speech, Class Representative Paul C. Panal, expressed deep gratitude to the parents, sponsors, and supporters who had accompanied them throughout their MAAP journey. The event concluded with a group photo, marking the end of the luncheon for the first batch of the Valhareans Class of 2025 IMMAJ scholars.
