August 17 ------ During his time as a Kapamilya “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition” housemate, Esnyr Ranollo learned to appreciate the little things in life. His stint in the reality show also opened up more doors of opportunity after he stepped out of the house.

“My greatest lesson is… I’ve become appreciative and more thankful for the little things (in life),” Esnyr told The STAR during the Star Magic Spotlight presscon. “Inside kuya’s house, we had a limited supply of food, and sometimes, we’d feel like we didn’t get enough sleep. “So, I appreciated the family that I have here because they were the ones who were with me in my entire ‘PBB’ journey. Na-appreciate ko kahit saging at itlog lang. Na-appreciate ko na I got to sleep next to my crush. Ay, charing lang! I am so grateful for the things in life.”

Not only that Esnyr get to reflect on those things, but his “PBB” experience has also changed his life in a major way. “Like 360 (-degree) change. It also opened doors of opportunities for me and my family,” he shared. He admitted that before entering “PBB,” he lacked strength, but after leaving the “PBB” house, he became stronger as a person. He explained, “Since we went through challenges inside the house, yung mga hamon ni kuya, I learned how to accept criticisms and at the same time, (felt) the love from the people.” He expressed how grateful he is to be part of the show and hoped that things would get better for him financially. “Because I really don’t know anong plano ko kung wala to. I’m super happy with what’s happening in my life now, and sana walang mag-evil eye.”

When asked if he still commutes, he quipped, “Maybe inside the house, no. But when I’m outside world na, I realized, mas lalo akong kumyut (cute).’” Kidding aside, Esnyr said that he has always commuted ever since moving to Manila. But he plans to buy a car for himself someday. “But yes, I’m proud that I do commute. Kaya mabuhay ang nagko-commute!”

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Esnyr maintained that there is always pressure for him to do better, and it’s one of the stories that he shared while inside the “PBB” house. He mused, “I’ve been carrying the weight of being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community ever since I was a child. And then I learned to accept it, and at the same time, I lived with it. ‘Or is it I lived by it? Charing. Ay, glory to God.’ “But while I was (inside the house), the pressure was still there, especially at the beginning (of the show). (I was thinking), ‘What if I become the reason the community hates me? What if I say something wrong? What if they don’t accept me?”

But as time passed by, Esnyr realized what it really means to be part of the LGBTQIA+ community. As he elaborated, “What I learned is, just the representation alone and the things that matter to me, I don’t need to be calculated. I just want to show who I am and my true colors. “And my takeaway of being part of the community is that — just be unapologetically you and be authentic. You don’t have to fit a mold to be enough because at the end of the day, you are still you, and what matters is your story, your truth, your existence, and no one can take that away from you, baby.”

Esnyr and Kapuso actress Charlie Fleming secured third place in the “PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition.” He admitted that he was vocal about winning the top spot from the beginning, but came to accept his placement, eventually. “To all those who rooted for me, don’t worry, i-papa-root canal ko kayong lahat,” the popular content creator joked and then thanked his supporters who have been supporting him from the start. “I’m super happy to the people who love me and naniniwala po sa amin ni Charlie na maipanalo po namin yung Big Winner. Actually, ako din. Yun din yung nilalaban ko talaga ever since. I’ve been vocal about it since Day 1, Day 2 inside the house. “But when we got third place, I accepted it day by day, and I realized that it’s not a loss for me. In fact, it’s a bonus na lang din sa amin na may isang LGBTQIA+ community na nagre-represent sa aming community na nakaabot ng Big 4 and it’s already a big thing for me.”

His goal was just to share his story and to be the voice of the breadwinners, continued Esnyr. “In that aspect, we’ve already won. I also realized you can’t have it all, even the top spot, but you would learn more valuable lessons, including growth in character and of course, the story that we shared with the people. So yes, thank you all.” Esnyr also showed his eagerness to step into the “new chapter” of his career filled with “so much love” around him. “I don’t know what you saw in me, but I will try not to disappoint you. Yes, love you all,” he said.
