Hipolito lifts bronze in IWF Youth World Championships

October 6 ------ Teen lifter Jeaneth Hipolito made her way into the podium as she bagged the women’s 40kg snatch bronze medal in the 2021 IWF Youth World Championships in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia early Wednesday. The 14-year old Filipina bet hoisted 52kgs. behind top finisher Turkish Ezgi Kilig (55kgs) and silver medalist Lauren Estrada Velez of Colombia (53kgs). Hipolito, a Zamboanga native, placed fifth overall with 62kgs lift in the clean and jerk category for a total haul of 114 kgs.

Kilic dominated the division with three gold medals as she also topped clean and jerk (70kgs) for a total lift of 125 kgs. Velez also finished with silver medals in clean and jerk (63kgs) and total lift (118 kgs). Darly Canto Colli of Mexico won bronze medals in clean and jerk (67kgs) and total lift (118 kgs.)

Meanwhile, Filipino bets Adrian Cristobal and Albert Ian delos Santos will compete in the men’s 61kg event later at 3 p.m. (Manila time).
