June 5 ------ Actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista and Sparkle star Sean Lucas are taking center stage as the hosts of “The People Have Spoken,” GMA Network's newest original game show that turns everyday opinions into opportunities to win cash prizes.
Premiering June 6, the program combines lively discussions, celebrity competition and audience participation in a format built around the views of ordinary Filipinos.
The Saturday evening show features 100 studio audience members, collectively known as "The People," who answer survey questions on a wide range of topics. Celebrity contestants must then predict the most popular responses, with the pair that best reads the pulse of the audience advancing to claim the jackpot prize. Unlike traditional quiz programs, “The People Have Spoken” focuses less on right or wrong answers and more on understanding why people think the way they do.
For Evangelista, the show's focus on conversation made accepting the hosting role an easy decision. "It was a no-brainer because it's something that you can interact with the people on the show and the people watching," Evangelista said during a press conference. "It's not just trivia. Here, there's really no wrong answer. People have reasons for their answers, and in a way, you're also educating each other,” she added.
The project also marks a first for the actress, entrepreneur and fashion icon. "It's the first time that I'm hosting a game show, and I must say I'm losing my voice, but I'm happy because I'm a talkative person. I feel like I have an outlet to be more expressive, to join the conversation," she said with a laugh.
Joining her is Sean Lucas, who described landing the hosting gig as an unexpected career milestone. "I never expected anything like this. I went into the audition process, not really expecting anything. I just wanted to do my best. And now that I'm here, it's just surreal, unbelievable. I'm super thankful to everyone who made the show possible and considered me to be part of it," Lucas said. Lucas also credited Evangelista for helping him ease into the role. "I was super pressured from the start. I told you how nervous I was. You've always been so warm and so welcoming, and you made it an easy job.”
Evangelista, in turn, praised her co-host's professionalism and work ethics. "He's very smart and very hardworking. He's already awake at 4 a.m. because he also hosts ‘Unang Hirit,’ so it's inspiring to see.”
