Gov't work, classes suspended in NCR, 7 provinces today

MANILA, September 26 ------ Malacañang suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels in Metro Manila and several provinces today due to the expected heavy rains from Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name Bualoi).
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin issued Memorandum Circular No. 102 on Thursday, ordering the suspension of work in government offices and schools in the National Capital Region, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Masbate, Romblon, and Sorsogon. Classes at all levels are also suspended in Aklan, Albay, Antique, Batangas, Bataan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Capiz, Cavite, Catanduanes, Guimaras, Iloilo, Laguna, Leyte, Marinduque, Negros Occidental, Oriental Mindoro, Rizal, and Quezon.
Agencies involved in disaster response, health, and other vital services will remain fully operational. Local chief executives may also impose localized suspensions in other areas as necessary. Work in private offices will be at the discretion of their respective management.
