Gillian Vicencio remains optimistic despite challenges

February 8 ------ Kapamilya actress Gillian Vicencio admitted that 2023 was a challenging year, but she chose to stay positive.

Gillian, 22, was shocked when she was falsely linked to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's breakup. Instead of commenting or defending herself, she focused on her career. "Parte ng pagiging artista ay ang mga judgment at mga kabi-kabilang batikos. Halos lahat naman ng artista ay hindi pinalampas pagdating sa intriga. Name it! Lahat dumaan sa intriga at kontrobersiya pero sabi nga nila, sa mundong ating ginagalawan, positive or negative publicity is still publicity," Gillian said.

Gillian said she drew strength and inner peace from her family and close friends in showbiz. "It's a 'damn-if-you-do, damn-if-you-don't' world. Magsalita ka man o hindi, may masasabi pa rin ang mga tao sa'yo. Mas mabuting ituon na lang ang ating mga activities sa positive energy," she added.  Gillian has had a busy year. She recently finished working on Kumprontasyon, a play staged at the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) Theater. Her performance received good reviews, which is impressive since she shares the stage with industry veterans, including Romnick Sarmenta. After receiving such a positive response, the 23-year-old performer is more determined than ever to pursue a career on stage. Eager to take on more challenging roles, they are ready to showcase their talent and passion for the art.

Gillian is busy as the newest endorser of Beautederm, a popular health, wellness, and beauty brand. “Sobrang masaya kasi first endorsement ko ito, nakakatuwa na kahit baguhan at hindi pa ako ganoong kakilala ay nasama at pinagkatiwalaan ako ni Mommy Rei (Tan, Beautederm chief) kasi nga mga A-listers ang mga artistang endorser ng Beautederm," she said. Gillian will also be seen in the upcoming Filipino adaptation of the Korean hit under Dreamscape and VIU, “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim,” starring Kim Chiu at Paulo Avelino. She will be paired there with Yves Flores, her partner in “2 Good 2 Be True” as with “ReTox 2 Be Continued.” She made a significant impact in 2018 with her role in the film "Eerie," alongside Charo Santos and Bea Alonzo. Gillian was launched as part of Star Magic’s 2019 batch of new stars alongside Belle Mariano, Anthony Jennings, Jeremiah Lisbo, JC Alcantara, and Kyle Echarri. She would go on to join Rise Artists Studio under Star Creatives. A year later, Gillian landed her biggest break in "Four Sisters Before the Wedding," alongside Alexa Ilacad, Charlie Dizon, and Belle Mariano. Last year, Gillian made a mark on Netflix with "Kargo" and "A Very Good Girl."
