Gilas Women storm into Asiad 3×3 semifinals after Singapore rout

September 25 ------ Gilas Pilipinas Women dominated Singapore in the quarterfinals of the 20th Asian Games 3×3 basketball tournament, cruising to a 22-12 victory at Kinjo Futo Station Square in Japan.

Both the men’s and women’s teams are now through to the semifinals, with the Filipinas set to face Thailand on Friday. Thailand booked its spot in the last four after edging Iran, 12-11, in their quarterfinal matchup earlier in the day. Gilas fell behind, 7-5, early in the game before turning the tide with a huge run.

Amyah Espanol and Kacey Dela Rosa combined for eight points during an 11-1 surge that put the Philippines firmly in control. Espanol then delivered the finishing blow, sinking a two-pointer with 2:06 remaining to seal the victory. Espanol and Kennan Ka led the Filipinas with seven points apiece, with Ka also pulling down nine rebounds. Dela Rosa added six points, while Victoria Pasilang chipped in two. Lai Hor paced Singapore with six points.
