May 25 ------ GILAS Pilipinas will begin its title bid in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 against Chinese Taipei on Tuesday, August 5 (Wednesday, August 6 Manila time) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The official schedule was formally released to the public via social media with the Philippines going up against Chinese Taipei in the final game of a quadruple header at 9 p.m. Jeddah time (2 a.m. Manila time).
Gilas' next outing in Group D play will be against another familiar foe in world No. 22 New Zealand on Thursday, August 7 at 6 p.m. (11 p.m. Manila time). The Philippines' first two games will be against the same teams that they faced during the qualification stage of the tournament with them splitting their games. With the schedule, two of the Gilas games will be on primetime in Jeddah, meaning Manila-based fans will witness the team either late in the evening or in the wee hours of the morning. Gilas will wrap up the group stage with an early tussle against Iraq on Saturday, 11 a.m. (4 p.m. Manila time).
The four teams will look to top the group, their three other counterparts claiming an automatic berth in the quarterfinal round. The second and third placers from each group will still get a chance to make it to the quarterfinals and claim the four remaining seats as they battle in a ‘play-in’ game with the other group. The qualifications to the quarterfinal games will be on August 11 and 12.
The quarterfinals will be on August 13 and 14, while the semifinals is slated on August 16. The final and third-place matches will be on August 17.
