Gilas Girls settle for sixth place in FIBA U18 Asia Cup

October 12 ------ The Gilas Pilipinas girls team settled for sixth place in the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup after an 86-55 defeat against Chinese Taipei in the classification match at the Karisma Arena in Seremban, Malaysia.

The Nationals found no answer to the telling 28-4 run from the Taiwanese, who created the separation in the final five minutes of the opening frame that turned a slim 10-9 lead to a 28-13 advantage. Chinese Taipei led by as many as 36 points as Gilas, just like in its game against China, struggled with its offense.

Grace Marina Curley once again paced the Nationals with 15 points while KJ Badajos and Rianne Perez added 12 and 11, respectively. Jou-An Chen had 12 for Chinese Taipei which flaunted a balanced attack with six players, scoring with at least eight points.
