MANILA, September 29 ------ The Gilas Pilipinas girls have maintained their spot in the FIBA Women’s Asia Under-16 Division A.

Following their sixth-place finish in the 2025 edition of the U16 Women’s Asia Cup, the Nationals, mentored by head coach Julie Amos, will compete in the tilt’s 2027 edition still in the same division.

Gilas finished with a lone win in five games, with 15-year-old Tiffany Reyes previously draining a buzzer-beater last Friday to celebrate her birthday with a victory against South Korea. Following this, the No.6 Philippines with the No.5-ranked Chinese Taipei and No.7 South Korea avoided relegation, leaving the 0-4 Syria — the last-placer in Division A — to be transferred into Division B.

Meanwhile, the 5-0 India emerged as the top squad in Division B after staying unbeaten in five games, and this earned them a spot in the 2027 Asia Cup Division A. Australia emerged as the top squad of this year’s Asia Cup Division A after the Aussies also swept all of their five assignments, New Zealand went No.2, Japan only had one loss in five games, while China placed fourth. The said squads all booked their respective tickets into the 2027 U16 Women’s Asia Cup following their Top 4 finishes.
