‘Ghost Fighter’ to be adapted into live-action series

December 17 ------ A new live-action series based on the hit 1990s manga “Yu Yu Hakusho,” popularly known as “Ghost Fighter” in the Philippines, will be coming to the streaming service Netflix.

The company made the announcement earlier today, Dec. 16, but has yet to reveal details such as its expected release date. However, its acquisition director, Kazutaka Sakamoto, noted that the show will premiere simultaneously on the platform worldwide, as per Anime News Network on the same day.

Sakamoto will also serve as an executive producer on the project, which Akira Morii will produce. The team behind the series will consist of members from Japan and other countries. The manga follows Yusuke Urameshi as he serves as a Spirit Detective after dying while attempting to save a child’s life. It was created by Yoshihiro Togashi in 1990 for the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Togashi is also well known for creating another popular manga called “Hunter x Hunter.”
