August 29 ------ The remarkable journey of emerging talent Gela Atayde has captured the attention of the prestigious Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), culminating in her triumph at the 37th PMPC Star Awards for Television, where she was honored with the Best New Female Personality award over the weekend.

Once celebrated as the dance princess, Gela now stands at the threshold of her blossoming career, determined to excel beyond her current achievements. With a passionate commitment to her craft, she embodies the vibrant worlds of dancing, acting, and hosting, continually striving to elevate her artistry and connect with audiences every day. “This is crazy. I don't have anything prepared because I really didn't expect this. Oh my gosh! I do not know what to say but thank you, thank you so much, PMPC, for this because Senior High really means a lot to me,” Gela said after receiving her award at the VS Hotel Convention Center.

The PMPC recognized her acting debut for her role in Senior High, a Philippine mystery drama TV series that premiered from Aug. 28, 2023, to Jan. 19, 2024, under the production company Dreamscape Entertainment and ABS-CBN. That was her first acting citation after a colorful dancing career as a member of the 2023 Arizona World Hiphop Dance Champion Legit Status. She was also chosen to be one of the hosts of ABS-CBN’s dance reality show Time to Dance from January 18 to April 12.

Despite the people, the stars around her, the De La Salle University Arts Communication graduate always delivers her absolute best naturally from time to time in both acting and dancing, creating her own direction towards a beautiful career at the age of 23. “I was new in the industry, pressured by everything, especially as a nepo baby.

It was a lot of pressure, but I really want to thank everyone who believed in me. Dreamscape Entertainment, Sir Deo Endrinal, who believed in me since day one without doubt,” Gela explained. “Until now, I do not know why, but I am really thankful to him every day. So I really owe this to Sir Deo of Dreamscape. And of course, ABS-CBN, thank you so much, Tita Cory (Vidanes), Direk Lauren (ti Dyogi), for believing in me. “Tito Monch, my manager, Ate Shar for always having my back. There are so many, so many people to thank, but I do not want to take your time.”

The youngest daughter of veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez-Atayde and Art Atayde, sister of Quezon City first district Congressman Juan Carlos “Arjo” Atayde, Ria, and Xavi, added that the Senior High television series was one of her most unforgettable moments. “Elijah (Canlas) is also one of my co-actors there. We were discussing how it was such a pivotal time in our lives. It was an amazing time in our lives because as a cast our friendship became solid. I really owe this to you, my cast, my fellow cast members. Thank you so much.” Gela is a world-class hip-hop world champion dancer and now a promising actress.
