'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' jeepney arrives in Gateway

MANILA, May 6 ------ The "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga"-inspired jeepney made its final stop at the Gateway Mall, Quezon City.

The Pinoy jeepney that was dressed up like a Mad Max vehicle traveled throughout the metro from Venice Grand Canal Mall, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall before making its final stop in Gateway.

Bonch Santos, Marketing Head Warner Bros. Discovery Philippines, said there's nothing more iconic in representing the Philippines than a jeepney. "So we dressed (it) up. We worked with a local provider…and they dressed up the jeepney in all of the elements of Furiosa. We wanted to put a global highlight to something very iconic," she said. "We understand and we are aware of what the jeepney drivers are going through right now. We are conscious of that. But what we want to do is to pay tribute to something very iconic to us Filipinos. It's a daily ride for all of us Filipinos," she added.

Last May 1, the Furiosa-inspired jeepney offered free rides from LRT Buendia station going to SM Mall of Asia, as part of the Labor Day celebration. "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" is a prequel to the Mad Max series that tells the story of young Furiosa (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) and her strength as she faces trials to find her way home. "I don't wanna spoil it for everyone but definitely we will learn her strength as a woman was used in the movie to make sure that she shows that she can match whatever men can do," she said. "We are actually doing an advance screening for 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' on May 21. That will be in another mall…in SM Megamall." The film will be shown in cinemas nationwide starting May 22.
